Main ingredients: 1 tablespoon slippery elm bark or powder; 3/4 cup hot water; 1 teaspoon rose water; 1 teaspoon plain aloe vera gel
Why this rinse works
Slippery elm creates a slippery infusion that can help dry-feeling lengths detangle with less pulling. Aloe vera gel adds a light hydrated feel. This is a rinse for hair lengths, not a scalp treatment or a hair-growth promise.
Recipe ingredients
- 1 tablespoon slippery elm bark or powder
- 1 cup hot water
- 1 teaspoon plain aloe vera gel
- Optional: 1/2 teaspoon vegetable glycerin for very dry lengths
How to make it
- Pour hot water over slippery elm and steep for 20 minutes.
- Strain very well through cloth if using powder and let the infusion cool completely.
- Stir in aloe vera gel and optional glycerin.
- After shampooing, pour through the mid-lengths and ends or mist lightly.
- Leave for 2–3 minutes, then rinse lightly or style as usual if your hair tolerates leave-in mists.
Quick safety notes
- Patch test first.
- Discard leftovers after 24 hours in the fridge.
- Avoid use on irritated scalp.
- Use a small amount so hair does not feel coated.
