Quick note: Berry color can stain light fabrics, so pour and serve carefully.
Ingredients
- 1 cup mixed berries, fresh or frozen
- 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1/2 banana or 1 soft date for sweetness
- A few ice cubes if needed
How to make it
- Add almond milk to the blender first.
- Add berries, banana or date, chia seeds and ice.
- Blend until smooth and pourable.
- Let it stand for 2 minutes so the chia softens slightly, then drink fresh.
Common mistakes
- Using too little liquid and turning the smoothie into a thick spoon bowl.
- Adding too many chia seeds, which can make the texture gummy.
- Letting frozen berries sit unblended in a weak blender; add liquid first.
Best texture
Keep this smoothie drinkable, light and freshly blended. If it becomes too thick, add cold water, milk, kefir or coconut water one tablespoon at a time until it pours easily.
